Why patience and purpose are key lessons for young marketers

The latest edition of the Marketing Week Explores podcast was recorded during the School of Marketing’s inaugural event, set up to get young people from diverse backgrounds to consider a career in marketing.

In it, senior writer Charlotte Rogers asks a panel of guests to reflect on their experiences and perceptions about working in marketing.

The event, which was hosted at Saatchi & Saatchi’s London headquarters, brought together young people aged 16 to 20 with members of the School of Marketing’s ambassador group, the Founding 50.

A host of speakers took part on the day, including Kerensa Jennings, CEO of The Duke of York Inspiring Digital Enterprise Award; Helen Tupper, founder of Amazing If and the Squiggly Careers podcast; and Richard Huntington, chairman and chief strategy officer at Saatchi & Saatchi.

Reflecting on what they learnt from the day’s speakers, the panel features University of Exeter students Anna Clayden (who is studying English literature) and Edward Clench (business management and marketing), alongside Founding 50 members Joe Glover, founder of Empath Marketing and The Marketing Meetup, and Jessica Houston, digital marketing manager at PwC.
