The Idaho Humane Society is hosting a pet food drive with an enticing twist: bring your pet food donation(s) to the Idaho Humane Society, 4775 W. Dorman St. in Boise from noon to 2 p.m. today and meet representatives from The Asher House and their canine friends
The Asher House is a nonprofit organization dedicated to educating the public about dog shelters and the dogs that populate them — and to encourage people to adopt.
“Every breed can be found in the shelters, every breed can be rescued,” said the organization’s website. “Another vital part of our mission is to introduce people to shelters through events and social gatherings at the shelter and educate them on the importance of local humane societies as well as try to abolish that preliminary fear that person may have had.”

The Asher House started with a successful Kickstarter campaign that enabled them to purchase an RV and travel the country with their six rescue dogs in tow.
If you go to the Idaho Humane Society event, you can tour the inside of the RV, meet Lee Asher and take photos as well as meet adoptable pets. Donated pet food will be distributed to Pet Food Pantry. The Meals on Wheels program also receives donated pet food for seniors who have pets.
