The Ada County Coroner has identified the victim of a mountain bike crash in the Boise Foothills as 38-year-old Jason Delgadillo of Boise. The Ada County Sheriff’s Office said Delgadillo was riding with another man in the morning hours of May 12 when the two became separated. After backtracking, the fellow cyclist said he spotted Delgadillo’s body at the bottom of a steep gulch near the Spring Valley Creek trail.
The cyclist said he began performing CPR, but Delgadillo wasn’t breathing. Nearby hikers called 911, but Delgadillo was pronounced dead at the scene. A spokesperson for the Ada County Sheriff’s Office said Delgadillo was an experienced mountain biker and was wearing a helmet when he crashed.
Meanwhile, friends have created a GoFundMe page to assist Delgadillo’s family. According to the website, Delgadillo left behind a wife and five children and was described as “kind, generous, friendly and adventurous.”
“Jason and I ran BoiseTrails.com together and he became one of the best friends I’ve had in my life,” wrote Kirk Cheney. “Many others would probably say the same. All the proceeds of this campaign will be used to provide for his wife and kids.”
